About the Episode

LifeBlood BE WELL: We talked about how to get healthy and stay healthy, how to think about fitness and healthy living, and how to design a program that will be fun, effective and sustainable.

We discussed Nicole’s career as an electrical engineer, a major life event that led to her discovering the importance of fitness, why she decided to pivot and make wellness her career, the impact she’s working to have, and how she’s helping others.

We talked about how you can’t just give up when something goes wrong, otherwise you’re never going to accomplish anything because you’re always going to experience bumps in the road, we talked about why it’s essential to find you “why” for being healthy, because once you discover that it will help carry you through the hard times.

We discussed how working out and being healthy doesn’t need to be unpleasant and how you can actually have fun while doing it.  How it’s actually essential to enjoy being active otherwise you’re probably going to stop doing it so you’ll reach your goals.

We talked about the importance of keeping time in mind when making your fitness goals and plans, how you don’t need to work out for three hours to be healthy, why cardio is not essential and more often than not viewed as a punishment and how to create effective and efficient workouts in short amounts of time.

We discussed how fitness is overly complicated and how to get started with Nicole Renee, Wellness Guru, rockstar fitness fixer-upper, activist and speaker on all things health.

A first principle is a basic assumption that cannot be deduced any further. Over two thousand years ago, Aristotle defined a first principle as “the first basis from which a thing is known.” First principles thinking is a fancy way of saying “think like a scientist.”...

The Golden Rule

The Golden Rule

I want to talk about two significant maxims, the Golden Rule and one attributed to Fyodor Dostoyevky.   “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” “Society should not be judged on how it treats its outstanding citizens but by how it treats its...

Face Punching

Face Punching

Mike Tyson famously said “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”  From there, you’ll have to see how your plan survives it’s collision with reality.  And so it goes for you and I as well.  Hopefully, you’re not physically getting...

Fanny Packs

Fanny Packs

Does your desire to conveniently carry lots of stuff outweigh the stigma of wearing a fanny pack?  Is that a tradeoff you’ve made, or that you’re willing to make?   Speaking of tradeoffs, are you conscious of the decisions you’ve already made or are currently...

Gandhi’s Glasses

Gandhi’s Glasses

Recently, I read about how a pair of Mahatma Gandhi’s glasses were sold at auction for $340,000.  While I don’t have an opinion as to whether or not that’s the correct price for his actual glasses, I wondered what the value of his perspective would...

Meet Your Heroes

Meet Your Heroes

Conventional wisdom tells us we should never meet our heroes, because the only thing that’ll come from it is disappointment.   But I disagree.  I think we should meet our heroes because we’ll be disappointed, and that’s a good thing.   We all...

Live How You Want

Live How You Want

Are you living how you want?  Is your life the life that you want?  That’s a giant and potentially terrifying question and maybe the most important question you can ask yourself.   In order to live how you want, you need to ask yourself how you...

Chaos

Complete disorder and confusion.  Behavior so unpredictable as to appear random.  The formless matter supposed to have existed before the creation of the universe.  2020. These are all definitions of chaos.  If we weren’t feeling swamped and a bit...

Where You At?

Where You At?

One my favorite words, arete, has no true English equivalent. It’s a Greek word whose meaning is close to “virtue” and whose definition is “what I can be, I must be.”  It speaks to a desire to realize our potential, to become the best possible version of...
