About the Episode

LifeBlood: We talked about impact investing, how to align your investing with the causes and issues that are most important to you, how voting with your dollars work, and how to get started.

We discussed Rebecca’s path to focusing on ESG and impact investing full-time, the experiences that gave her the passion for the space, how the industry has changed over time and what it looks like today.

We talked about what it means to align your personal values with your investing, how ESG investing is vast and a spectrum, how to determine which part is of greatest importance to you, how to then make the decision on how to start investing, and how to monitor your choices.

We discussed the importance of removing a profit motive from the educational process, creating community and making people feel comfortable learning about this expanding area, and empowering people to get started.

We talked about how it’s possible to have your voice heard through ownership in publicly traded companies, how that’s available to almost anyone, and how you can also develop a strategy of avoiding putting your money to work in certain industries or sectors.

We discussed how most people aren’t interested in spending a ton of time thinking about their investments, so there’s value in helping people to develop and implement a strategy and how to go about doing that with Rebecca David, Founder of GIVE, an organization helping people manage their money and make a difference by understanding the world of impact and ESG investing and how to vote with our dollars.
